PCOND Chapter 12

The next day, everyone was at the front of Notre Dame, about to watch the bonfire. Unfortunately, it was Berri about to be burned. While the gypsies, who are held prisinor in cages, especially Conker, who held the bars, watched in horror.

Panther King: Citizens of Paris! The prisoner, Berri, is found guilty of the crime of witchcraft. The sentence: death!  

The people held back by the guards looked worried as Sleuth "Doggy" Dawg threw more hay next to Berri with Sergeant Simian holding a torch. Li Yuen and Li Moon, inside the church opened the entrance door and looked horrified at what was about to happen, but before they could get through, the guards stopped them. The Panther King then approached the struggling Berri.

Panther King: (slyly) The time has come, gypsy, you stand upon the brick of the abyss. But you can still save yourself. I can keep you safe from the flames of this world and the next. All you have to do is choose...tell me: Me or the flames?

Berri: Neither!

She spit on the Panther King's face, making the people gasp. The Panther King glared as he shouted.

Panther King: The gypsy, Berri refuese to recent! This evil witch has put the soul of every citizen of Paris in mortal danger...

In the bell tower, Speedy, chained up, sighed sadly. The animals came up to him as the lion spoke.

Mike: Hey, snap out of it. Don't just stand there, do something!

Trent: Your friends are down there, and they're in danger!

Speedy: Why? It's all my fault...what's the use? He's just gonna make things worse.

Kairi: But you gotta break these chains!

Speedy: I can't, I tried. What difference would it make?

They looked worried as Trent spoke.

Trent: Look Speedy, you can't let the Panther King win!

Speedy: (sadly) Too late, he already has.

Mike: (disbelieved) So, you're giving up? That's it?

Kairi: But these chains aren't what's holding you back, Speedy.

Speedy: (snaps) Leave me alone.

The animals looked shocked at what he said, then sighed as they looked at him sadly.

Mike: Okay. Okay, Speedy, we'll leave you alone.

Trent: Why bother continue to speak? We are only stone after all.

With that, the two began to change back to stone.

Kairi: We just thought maybe you were made of something stronger...

She then changed back to stone as well. Once they had, Speedy thought to himself. He then looked at the figure that was thought to have been burned before. He then looked at the scene that was about to begin.

Panther King: ...for justice, for Paris, and for her salvation, it is my shameful duty that I must send this poor chipmunk back where she belongs!

He then set the hay on fire. The crowd shouted in horror and anger as Berri struggled. She gasped as Speedy looked shocked. The Pizza Cat looked worried as he shouted.

Speedy: Berri!!!

He then became angry as he glared furiously to the Panther King. Just as he shouted, he felt like something incredible was inside himself.

Speedy: NOOOOOOO!!!!

With all his might, he pulled on the chains as dust surrounded himself. He kept pulling as the bells rang loudly, while he shook the building, causing the pillars of stone to fall out. The cat kept pulling until the pillar continued to crumble. Back below, the Panther King grinned evilly as he watched Berri struggle and cough with the smoke rising. Back in the bell tower, Speedy kept pulling and pulling. Suddenly, the dust around him began to grow bigger as he pulled harder and harder until he broke free while screaming in anger. Speedy then stood up with a demonic angry and determined look on his face. He then grabbed a rope, then ran and jumped off the edge.

Speedy: I'm coming!

To the surprise of the crowd below, the Pizza Cat used it and swung to land safely next to Berri, who lost consciousness. The surprised Panther King stepped back as Speedy used his sword to slash the ropes off. Lightning Lynx, Predator Hawk, and Flying Frong went toward him, but the cat grabbed the torch, scaring them off with it. After freeing Berri, he grabbed her and climbed his way up to Notre Dame fast.

Panther King: (shouts) Speedy!

The ones in cages, and Conker, meanwhile, smiled as Speedy kept on climbing. As he reached the top, he faced the crowd, and held up Berri's body.

Speedy: (shouting) SANCTUARY! SANCTUARY! SANCTUARY!!!

The crowd cheered wildly as the Panther King frowned.

Panther King: Captain!

Sleuth "Doggy" Dawg: Sir?

Panther King: Seize the cathedral!

In the bell tower, Speedy brought Berri into his bedroom, setting her on the bed.

Speedy: Don't worry, you'll be safe here.

He then turned and ran back outside where the animals watched proudly.

Mike: (grins) All right, Speedy! Give 'em heck!

Jumping down, the cat grabbed a beam of wood, throwing it at the soldiers advancing on the cathedral, resulting in the Panther King's carrier being destroyed. He glared as he saw some of his men running off.

Panther King: (angrily) Get back here, you spineless cowards! (To the guards at Conker's cage) Get that beam and break down the door!

As the soldiers ran to do so, only Predator was watching the cage as he neared the one Conker was in.

Conker: Well, it's just you and me now!

He then grabbed Predator and hit him on the head, knocking Predator out. With a grin, Conker grabbed the keys on Predator's belt and began to unlock the cages he was in. With that done, he got on top of the cage as he shouted to the crowd.

Conker: Citizens of Paris! The Panther King has persecuted our people, ransacked our city, and now, he's declared war on Notre Dame itself! Will we allow it?

Crowd: NO!

As everyone freed the prisoners, including T.T., and were prepared to fight, the animals watched from the bell tower with Speedy.

Mike: I think the cavalry's here!

Speedy: (grins) Hey! It's that Conker?

While the group escaped from the cage, Conker punched Flying Frog's face, causing his teeth to fly. With Speedy, he and the animals threw many items toward the guards to keep them advancing. Mike ate a stone, then spits them at the guards.

The guards that had the fiery stones on them gasped, then ran away, screaming.

Panther King: (impatiently) Hit it harder!

The guards kept hitting the door harder, trying to break it down. With Conker, he fought off more guards, making sure they were at bay. Back in the bell tower, Trent and Mike worked on something, looking anxious to use it. Back in the fight, as the SHC Thermofile was fighting off Predator Hawk, the hawk tried hitting him, but he ducked as the hawk broke the stockades Elder Ham was on, making Predator scream in pain before he was knocked out.

Elder Ham: I'm free! I'm free!

Just then, he yelped as he fell into a manhole labeled "Mon Sewer".

Elder Ham: Dang it!

Back at the bell tower, Trent and Mike finished the item: a catapult. The cat looked down and saw some rope being tossed up. The Pizza Cat angrily grabbed it, pulling the rope right off and sending three weasel guards screaming into the river below. Once Trent and Mike were done, they pushed the catapult to the edge.

Trent: Ready, aim, fire!

Just then, the two tossed the catapult off the edge. The catapult was thrown upside down and it hit the guards to run in alarm as Trent looked concerned.

Trent: Are you sure that's how it's suppose to work?

Just then, the catapult that was upside down springed up and made the bottom smash a few guards.

Mike: Ha-ha! Works for me!

With Conker, he was fighting off Lightning Lynx. He advanced toward him as he hit him. Just then, Lightning turned around, then gasped as Dino headbutted him the ground while near a familiar Raptor.

Conker: Fangy, sit.

Lightning: Not again!

The people continued fighting onward. Back in the bell tower, Kairi cackled like the witch she was as she called upon the bird Pokemon and Digimon ala the Wicked Witch of the West.

Kairi: Ha-ha-ha! Fly, my pretties! Fly! Fly!

As she watched, the bird Pokemon and Digimon flew down and pecked the guards, causing them to scream and run.

Panther King: (angrily) Put your backs into it!

Back with the animals, they made a lead pot appear with Mike blowing with the help from Trent. Speedy tied a rope to it, then dumped the whole cauldron over. As a result, fire came pouring out of the toward and falled toward the villains below. They tried breaking the door, screaming as they ran off. The Panther King, groaning, slashed the door.

As the Panther King stormed in, Li Yuen and Li moon came up and shouted.

Li Moon: What are you doing? Have you gone mad?

Li Yuen: Don't you know assault on the house of God's not to be tolerated?

The Panther King then shoves the lion to the ground.

Li Moon: (To Li Yuen) Oh no! Grandfather! (To the Panther King) Why did you do this to him!?

Panther King: Silence! The Pizza Cat and I have unfinished business to attend to. And this time, you will not interfere.

The Panther King then went to the door to the tower, then opened it. then opened it. He then locked the door with the key, and began running upstairs while Li Moon ran to the door and banged on it.

Li Moon: No! No!!!
